Ashton Scally snubs Tottenham interest to train with Mikey Moore instead
Tottenham Hotspur have failed in their efforts to secure the services of a highly-rated Scottish full-back.
Spurs are expected to undertake a massive rebuild of their squad this summer ahead of Roberto De Zerbi’s first season in charge.
De Zerbi has reportedly been handed plenty of power in Tottenham’s squad building, and one would expect the Italian to sign proven performers who could slot seamlessly into his system.
However, Spurs showed with their signing of Souza in January that they are still on the lookout for top young talent, but they have now failed with their advances for another young full-back.
Ashton Scally snubs Tottenham interest to sign Rangers contract
The Daily Record have revealed that Tottenham attempted to secure the services of Rangers starlet Ashton Scally, who is rated as one of the best young talents in Scottish football.
While the 16-year-old left-back is yet to make his senior debut, his performances for the Gers’ and Scotland’s youth sides attracted interest from Spurs, as well as from Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester City.
However, despite receiving a host of offers from England and abroad, Scally has signed his first professional contract with Rangers, which is a three-year deal.
The outlet adds that the Glasgow giants put in nine months of groundwork to ensure that the teenager snubs a move to England and signs with them.
Rangers in talks with Spurs over Mikey Moore loan extension
It has been reported that Rangers are prioritising retaining Mikey Moore beyond the end of this season after the Tottenham man’s impressive showing on loan in Glasgow.
In fact, Ranger boss Danny Rohl admitted that the SPL side had begun talks with Tottenham over Moore, describing the 18-year-old as a ‘key player’ for his side.
However, it has been claimed by TEAMtalk that Spurs will hang onto the teenager next season if they get relegated.
