Melania Trump rejects Jeff Bezos' wife's peacemaking with Anna Wintour: 'Not interested'
Jeff Bezos' wife Lauren Sanchez has reportedly been trying to bring together First Lady Melania Trump and former Vogue editor Anna Wintour, according to reports on Monday.
Sanchez has been trying to play peacemaker between the two women after Wintour shaded Trump's style in a recent interview, just as Sanchez and Bezos were planning the upcoming Met Gala in May, Reality Tea reported. Bezos and Sanchez have had close ties to the Trump administration and even attended the inauguration for President Donald Trump.
"According to Rob Shuter, Lauren Sanchez wants Melania Trump and Anna Wintour to sort out their differences," according to the outlet. "Her husband, Jeff Bezos, is chairing the 2026 Met Gala, and Sanchez spent time with Wintour during Paris Fashion Week. Insiders stated that the Black Ops Aviation founder has seen a rare opportunity to call for peace. 'Lauren is connecting very powerful dots,' one insider shared."
Despite Sanchez's efforts, Trump is "not interested," a source said. "She’s not interested in Vogue — or that entire orbit. That world just doesn’t carry the same weight for her anymore."
Trump has reportedly shifted her priorities and doesn't value the fashion world the same way she did in the past.
"She’s walked away from that game completely," an insider said. "Melania doesn’t feel the need to make peace. From her perspective, there’s nothing to fix."
In recent Vogue interview, Wintour had commented on previous first ladies and fashion, including looks from former First lady Michelle Obama, who was known for sporting J.Crew and Chanel designs. Some viewed the comment as a snide comment on Trump's style.
"To be fair, Melania Trump also always looks like herself when she dresses," Wintour said.
