Woman arrested on suspicion of child neglect after 14-week old baby dies in hospital
Flowers have been laid outside a home in Stockport following the tragic death of a baby girl after concerns for her welfare were raised.
Officers and paramedics attended a property on Howden Close in North Reddish just before 11am on Saturday.
The youngster, believed to have been around 14 weeks old, was rushed to hospital from the scene but sadly died. Police have now launched an investigation following her death.
A 36-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of neglect and taken into custody for questioning.
Police said the probe was in ‘its early stages’ with officers ‘keeping an open mind’ into what happened.

Investigations were carried out on the street over the weekend, with officers from Greater Manchester Police remaining on the scene today as locals left floral tributes.
In a statement, a GMP spokesperson said: ‘Emergency services were called to reports of a concern for welfare in North Reddish at 10:51am on Saturday, April 18.
‘Despite the best efforts of emergency services, the baby sadly died at hospital.
‘A 36-year-old woman has been arrested on suspicion of child neglect and is in custody.
They added: ‘A scene will remain in place whilst we conduct our investigation, which is still in its early stages.
‘We are keeping an open mind and following all available lines of enquiry at this time.’
