‘Doesn’t make any sense’ – Pundit criticises Levy’s alleged plan for Harry Kane
Ally McCoist has said that it does not make any sense for Tottenham to hang on to Harry Kane if he does not sign a new contract with the club.
Kane is now into the final 15 months of his contract but Sky Sports reported on Tuesday that Tottenham have no intention of selling the strike irrespective of whether they finish in the top four or whether the striker signs a new deal.

The report added that the striker’s future could remain unresolved heading into the January transfer window.
Fabrizio Romano also said on his YouTube channel earlier this week that Tottenham have made it clear they have no intention of listening to offers for Kane as things stand.
The journalist added that the club remain determined to keep the striker and want him to be the face of their project moving forward.
However, McCoist has questioned why Spurs would want to lose out on a substantial fee by keeping Kane if he does not commit his future to the cub.
When asked if it would make sense for Spurs to hang on to the England captain, the pundit told talkSPORT (Wed, Mar 15, 2023, 06:00 – 10:00): “The answer is, no. The one thing you say about Daniel Levy is that he is a fantastic, very clever and astute businessman.
“Harry’s in control, in the respect that he can sit for another year.
“The only thing that would go against that is Harry’s age. I think now is the time, if he is going to move, now is the time.
“The obvious one you would think that he would go to is Manchester United. I know I get that (more money going to Manchester City if Haaland leaves next summer).
“But Manchester United look like they need an out-and-out centre-forward, don’t they?! So, that would be an obvious one.
“It doesn’t make any business sense (letting him leave for free). I gave Arsenal a lot of stick for how they handled the Aaron Ramsey and Mesut Ozil one, because both of them left for nothing.
“How can you have a player worth £50, 60 or 70 million and let them go for nothing? It doesn’t make any sense, at all.”
Spurs Web Opinion
I think Tottenham would be hoping that Kane comes around regarding a new contract if they can get their managerial appointment right and the team shows signs of considerable improvement at the start of next season.
However, McCoist is right in saying that it would be a gamble and could result in the club missing out on a substantial fee.
