He often knocks repeatedly on Thursdays and comes back more than once on some nights.
A Gloucestershire Police spokesperson said: “A member of the public approached their local Neighbourhood Engagement Vehicle and reported that an unknown man had been ringing their doorbell in the night then walking away.
“They reported that these incidents have gone on at their home address at London Road, Stroud, for a number of months and sometimes multiple times in one night.”
Gloucestershire Live previously reported on a separate incident of a phantom door knocker in a different area of Stroud who left the victim scared to sleep.
At the time, officers issued a community alert and asked residents to speak to them if they saw anything unusual.

Officers are appealing for the public’s help to identify the man in the latest incident who has been photographed on one of his visits to the couple’s home.
