Hunter Previews Midweek Trip To Face Rangers
Siobhan Hunter has said her teammates continue to follow the same ideals that led them to title success last season by "taking each game as it comes".
With four matches remaining, the Hibees are level on points with Celtic and are seeking to close the gap on third-place Rangers with a win against them on Wednesday evening.
The two sides meet at Broadwood Stadium, with a Hibs victory bringing Joelle Murray's side to within two points of the Light Blues in the ScottishPower Women's Premier League standings.
The girls are currently enjoying a nine-match unbeaten stretch in league competition, with Hunter herself five unbeaten since returning to the fray from injury last month.
"Obviously football's difficult when you're injured," she told Hibs TV. "It's all about getting back and quickly trying to get back into the team.
"The team have been doing really well. Unfortunately [there was an] injury to Linzi [Taylor], so I had to play probably quicker than I would have liked.
"But it's important that when you come in, you just perform to the best you can and try and help the team as much as I can as well."
Hunter has also captained the team in recent weeks, with the donning of the armband for her childhood club an 'honour' she never takes for granted.
"It's huge, it's a real honour, it's something probably I try and not think about too much, as it can get on top of you.
"It's a real honour to be given that opportunity, it's huge and I cherish it every time I do it."
As a centre-back, Hunter also takes pride in the team keeping three consecutive clean sheets in our most recent fixtures.
With Hibernian legend Joelle Murray at the helm, there is no surprise that emphasis is placed on defensive structure - with 'Shiv' revealing credit when credit is due is placed on defensive showings.
"Joelle obviously did that a lot when she played, and it's something she's trying to instill in us as defenders, as a whole team.
"We're trying to make sure that we get as much clean sheets as we can, which, in this league, is really difficult, so when we do, we really praise that.
"It’s something she's really big on and we try and do that as much as we can."
The next test is an away trip to face Leanne Crichton's Rangers on Wednesday 29 April. The Hibees were held to a draw last time out by the Glasgow club, with both a win and a loss occuring during the regular season.
Hoping to claw the hosts back in the league table heading into the final fixtures of the campaign, Hunter states that the team is a positive place following their robust run of results over the past two months.
"We're feeling good, obviously we got a good win the other night, but you know what football's like, it can change so quickly, so we just take one game at a time and we're looking forward to tomorrow.
"I think it's just important that, just the same as last year, we take each game as it comes. We’ve got one tomorrow night and then have a little bit of a weekend off to then go again the week after.
"We don't get too ahead of ourselves, we try and get as many points on the board as we can to finish up as high as we can on the table."
