Motorbikes to improve school monitoring in Phalombe

Phalombe, April 28, MANA: The donation of four motorbikes to Phalombe District Education Office is expected to improve school inspections and boost education standards.
Speaking during the handover ceremony by the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology on Tuesday, District Commissioner Yobu Makina said the motorbikes will address mobility challenges and help improve school performance.
“Phalombe has a strong record of performing well nationally, but we have faced challenges recently.
One of the key issues has been lack of transport for Primary Education Advisors (PEAs) to carry out inspections.
These motorbikes will help us address that,” Makina said.
He urged education officers to use the motorbikes for their intended purpose and ensure that all government officers operating them have valid riding licences, and that they are used strictly for monitoring and inspection.
Director of Education and Sports (DES), Steve Banda, said the motorbikes will ease supervision across the district.
“We have 19 education zones with 91 primary schools, but most quality assurance officers have not had reliable transport for supervision and inspection.
These motorbikes will significantly improve our work,” Banda said.
Primary Education Advisor for Mitekete Zone, Constance Misomali, said the motorbikes will help officers reach schools in hard-to-reach areas on time, describing them as reliable for executing their duties.
The four motorbikes have been allocated to Primary Education Advisors in Mitekete and Mulomba zones, with one assigned to the Coordinating PEA and another to the Special Needs Department.
