Nancy Guthrie Update: Ex-FBI Agent Believes DNA Evidence Points to One Suspect
Nancy Guthrie remains missing nearly three months after she disappeared from her home in the Catalina Foothills of Tucson, AZ.
Details regarding the whereabouts of the mother of Today host Savannah Guthrie remain unclear as the FBI investigates DNA evidence from the crime scene obtained from a private laboratory in Florida, where the Pima County Sheriff's Department initially sent the profile.
While the search for answers continues, a former FBI agent painted a picture of what happened the night Guthrie disappeared.
Former FBI Agent Jim Clemente Shares Telling Suspect Prediction
In a new interview with NewsNation's Brian Entin, former FBI agent Jim Clemente revealed why he believes investigators are searching for just one suspect – and it all has to do with the blood splatter on Guthrie's front steps.
Clemente believes the suspect had trouble corralling Guthrie, who may have wound up face down on her doorstep where blood evidence was traced back to her.
“If there were two people, you would think one of them would have control of her, complete control of her inside the house and brought her outside and would not have lost that control,” he stated. “But here, she’s clearly on the ground coughing this blood up.”
“There’s no evidence to me that there are more than one offender here. If there was three different shoe print patterns in the blood stains … that would tell me something. I don’t see it. I’m not aware of that evidence.”
Jim Clemente Believes the Suspect Will Be Caught
During the interview, Clemente also revealed he believes the suspect will be caught thanks to the mistakes made during the abduction.
“I firmly believe that the mistakes that this offender made during the course of committing this crime and afterwards – and even before actually committing the crime in the pre-attack surveillance that appears to have happened – that he will be caught,” he said.
A collective reward of over $1 million was announced for information that leads to the whereabouts of Guthrie.
