Why We Love This Deal
Merrell wants you to hit the trails this season. How do we know? The retailer just launched its Spring Hike Sale: From now until April 29, you can score deep discounts on top-rated Merrell hiking shoes with a limited-edition promo code. These handsome leather waterproof hikers—now almost 60% off— are one of the best deals on the entire site.
The Merrell Moab Speed 2 Leather Mid Waterproof Hiking Boots are on sale for $82, a 58% discount from their normal price of $195. The boots have an initial sale price of $135, and you can unlock the full deal by using code EXTRA40 at checkout. These boots are available in one colorway at that price, but there’s a full size range in stock. At $82, Merrell’s price beats any other retailer, including Zappos, and this limited-time discount is even better than the last time we highlighted these boots on sale.

What Shoppers Should Know
- Colorways Available: 1 on sale, 2 full price
- Sizes Available: 7-15
- Upper: Leather and textile
- Midsole: FloatPro Foam
- Best For: Dayhikes, backpacking, camping, yard work
The Moab Speed 2 Leather features a durable leather and textile upper with padding along the ankle collar and tongue for a snug, comfortable fit. It’s beefed up to protect your feet with a waterproof membrane, a durable heel cup, and a bellows tongue design that blocks out dirt and debris. In the midsole, a layer of FloatPro Foam cushions your landings, and a FlexPlate provides torsional rigidity for a stable ride. On the bottom, a Merrell-exclusive lugged Vibram TC5+ outsole generates lockdown grip on rocks, gravel, dirt, and other off-road surfaces.
The Moab Speed 2 Leather Mid Waterproof is the boot version of Merrell’s acclaimed Moab Speed 2 hiking shoe. With its leather upper, it has a more traditional look than the Moab Speed 2 Mid Gore-Tex, and the thick upper makes it a bit more durable (although it’s also heavier). The Leather version lacks the insulation of the Moab Speed 2 Thermo, which is designed for cold weather. There’s also a Moab Speed 2 Tactical, but I think the Leather is a better pick—the Tactical lacks the Vibram rubber outsole and leather upper.

What Shoppers Are Saying
Shoppers wore the Moab Speed 2 boots on rugged hikes, snowy walks, hunting trips, and even as workwear, and the boots offered superb performance through all of it. Shoppers praised their “super comfy” ride and said they provided “plenty of cushioning and grip.”
In addition, the boots’ robust and protective upper design really makes a difference in wet weather. One shopper reported “the waterproofing is excellent,” and several others noted the boots kept their feet dry through wet and wintry conditions.
Merrell marked these boots as “going fast,” and that’s no joke: Since only one colorway is on sale, there’s very limited inventory. Take advantage of this stacked 58% discount ASAP before the Moab Speed 2 Leather Mid goes out of stock.
