Severe Thundestorm Warning Issued as 'Very Large Hail,' Tornadoes Approach
Large areas in the central region of the United States are set to face multiple bouts of severe weather in the coming days, according to the latest forecasts.
Beginning Thursday, the Plains and parts of the South are in line for serious thunderstorms and potential tornadoes.
Six different states in line of fire Thursday
The National Weather Service reported this morning that severe thunderstorms, including hail and strong winds, are possible for parts of Minnesota, Iowa, Nebraska, Kansas, Missouri and Oklahoma on Thursday.
"Severe thunderstorms will be possible from northern Oklahoma into southern Minnesota on Thursday. Large hail to very large hail, damaging winds, and a few tornadoes are possible," the NWS says.
Major cities that are in line to be impacted by this band of weather include Kansas City, Missouri, Wichita, Kansas, Omaha, Nebraska, Lincoln, Nebraska and Des Moines, Iowa.
More bad weather coming over weekend
Thursday's storms are not the only ones on the radar throughout the United States in the coming days.
Over the weekend, the bad weather will spread from northeast Texas through the Ozarks and potentially into other parts of the South, according to Weather.com.
"Friday's threat is most likely centered from northeast Texas into the Ozarks, but some thunderstorms could also extend into the mid-Mississippi and Ohio Valleys," Weather.com said. "This weekend's threat appears centered on the Plains from Texas to Oklahoma and Kansas, extending to the Ozarks."
On Monday, some more storms are possible in the lower Mississippi and Tennessee Valleys, Weather.com added.
"While it's too soon to lay out details of each threat, large hail, damaging wind gusts, a few tornadoes and locally flooding rain is possible in these areas," the forecast reads.
