Sydney Sweeney Quietly Cut From New Movie - Here's Why
Sydney Sweeney has been dominating the headlines over the past week for a variety of reasons.
First things first, her Euphoria character is causing bitter debates online sparked by her character Cassie's dive into the OnlyFans world. Sweeney also recently landed the highly anticipated adaptation of the influential multimedia franchise Gundam from Netflix.
While she stars in pretty much everything under the sun, Sweeney won't be seen in a popular sequel set to release later this year.
Sydney Sweeney Cut From 'The Devil Wears Prada' Sequel
On Tuesday morning news broke that Sweeney was cut from The Devil Wears Prada 2 thanks to a "creative decision," according to Entertainment Weekly.
"Trailers for the film tease a plot point in which now-established journalist Andy Sachs (Hathaway) reunites with her former Runway colleagues, Miranda Priestly (Streep) and Nigel Kipling (Tucci), to save the fashion magazine from imploding amid a scandal and a volatile media landscape. While seeking funds to keep the brand running, they enlist the help of former Runway assistant Emily Charlton (Blunt), who now works as the head of Dior's United States operation," Entertainment Weekly writes.
"As it appears in the film, the trio arrives at the Dior offices to seek Emily's help. Initially, however, Sweeney appeared in a scene that expanded upon Emily's introduction, and saw her at work dressing a celebrity client, with Sweeney playing herself in the reported three-minute scene."
The scene reportedly didn't work structurally with the rest of the sequence and was subsequently cut from the film.
Sweeney is a polarizing figure in the entertainment world thanks to her divisive American Eagle jeans campaign, but she's established herself as one of the leading ladies in cinema thanks to her commercial successes like The Housemaid and Anyone But You.
