Toledo transfer Leroy Blyden Jr commits to Kansas
By JAMES MADDEN
Kansas has officially landed its second commitment in this year’s transfer portal cycle, in Toledo transfer Leroy Blyden Jr., his agent Rob Murphy confirmed to ZAGSBLOG on Monday.
Blyden, a 6-foot-1 guard from Detroit, averaged 16.4 points, 4.0 rebounds and 4.5 assists per game during his freshman campaign for the Rockets this season.
Being named the MAC Freshman of the Year this season, Blyden visited Kansas last week and also visited St. John’s, before ultimately committing to the Jayhawks.
He averaged 18.6 points per game in Toledo’s three games in Cleveland at the MAC Tournament, leading his team to the championship round before losing to Akron.
Ranked as the No. 86 overall transfer on 247Sports’ transfer portal rankings, Blyden will go to Kansas as its potential second starting guard next season, alongside Tay Kinney.
In addition to Blyden, Kansas also landed a commitment from Utah transfer Keanu Dawes, who will help fill the void from the losses of Flory Bidunga and Bryson Tiller.
