Swell going hard
Hello Friends,
There were around 50 people in the water at Dee Why before 0800. Sets looked to be in the head-high plus range. The swell’s not super clean, but it’s consistent and the wind was coming from the westerly quarters at 6-8 kts. At 0700, the MHL buoy was detecting 2.9 metres at 11.8 seconds apart from the SE. Tide was coming into the 1.59 metre high at 0930. Water was 22°C according to Dee Why SLSC’s web site.
Surf prospects for the coming week are looking exceptionally hopeful. If things play out the way some of the swell models are predicting, it’s going to be very good for the morning sessions through to Friday – which makes my punt to spend most of the week at Crescent look ok. The east tilt to the south swell, means there should be a few reasonable options in that area. I shall endeavour to file reports of how it goes.
Go well with your Sunday, and beginners, be careful, there’s a lot of energy around.
Weather Situation
Southerly winds will be maintained during the weekend as a high pressure system near Victoria extends a ridge over the coastal waters. From Monday, winds should gradually turn southeasterly as the high moves gradually eastwards over the Tasman Sea.
