One of Tottenham’s relegation rivals has suffered a big injury blow, which could boost the Lilywhites in their quest to stay in the Premier League.

Spurs have just six league games to save their season, and De Zerbi remains confident Tottenham can stay up despite starting his spell in North London with a defeat to Sunderland.

Opta’s Supercomputer now considers Spurs the favourites to be relegated along with Wolves and Burnley, but with 18 points still to play for, the Lilywhites will feel they can turn things around.

Tottenham will have their sights on catching West Ham, who sit two points ahead, but they would also move above Nottingham Forest with a win against Brighton on Saturday.

Nottingham Forest, who sit three points above Spurs in the Premier League table, sealed their progression to the semi-finals of the Europa League on Thursday by overcoming Porto over two legs.

However, their progression came at a cost as three of their key players were forced off with injuries during their 1-0 win at the City Ground on Thursday.

The Gazette & Herald reveals that Chris Wood, Murillo and Callum Hudson-Odoi picked up injuries against Porto. While Wood took a kick to his knee, Murillo was forced off with a knock.

The most concerning situation is that of Hudson-Odoi, who was holding his thigh as he came off and was seen leaving the stadium on crutches.

Vítor Pereira told the outlet about the injuries: “I’m not a doctor, but I think Chris and Murillo will not be anything special. Of course, Chris has a bruise on his knee, but I believe that him and Murillo will be ready for Burnley. Callum has a muscle injury and it is not possible, that’s the bad news.

“In my mind, we just know the next game we need to fight again with energy. I need to recharge myself with a Tesla charger because I need energy, but after a win, it is easier to recover than when we lose. When you lose, the headache is worse to recover. We try to be in our best condition for Sunday.”

Forest’s Europa League progression may boost Spurs’ survival chances

Forest have not won a major trophy in 36 years, which is why one would expect the club to take the Europa League very seriously, despite their predicament in the Premier League.

Pereira’s men have set up an all-English semi-final clash with Aston Villa, and those two legs are likely to take a lot out of the Forest squad.

The Midlands club’s European distraction may be good news for De Zerbi’s men, who are now solely focused on avoiding relegation.
