Qatar welcomes Lebanon-Israel ceasefire
The foreign ministry of Qatar welcomed the ceasefire between Lebanon and Israel, describing it as an important step toward reducing regional tensions and preventing further escalation.
In a statement issued on Friday, the ministry called for the immediate and full implementation of the ceasefire, stressing that strict adherence is essential to maintaining calm and avoiding renewed violence across the region.
Qatar also expressed appreciation for mediation efforts led by Donald Trump, saying diplomatic engagement had played a key role in securing the agreement and opening space for further negotiations.
The ministry said it hopes the truce will support broader regional and international efforts aimed at achieving a comprehensive, just and lasting peace, amid ongoing instability in the Middle East.
Trump announced that Israel and Lebanon had agreed to a 10-day ceasefire, urging all parties, including Hezbollah, to fully respect the terms and avoid actions that could undermine the agreement.
Separately, Iran also welcomed the development, linking the ceasefire to broader understandings reached in parallel talks with the United States mediated by Pakistan.
Analysts say the ceasefire could serve as a confidence-building measure, but warn that its success will depend on sustained diplomatic engagement and restraint by all sides involved.
