Why Is Trump's Voice Hoarse? President Has Shocking Answer When Asked About How He Sounds
Donald Trump had an unexpected answer when he was asked about his hoarse voice during a recent interview.
While speaking to Fox Business host Maria Bartiromo in a pre-taped conversation that aired on Wednesday (April 15), the president was asked to explain why his voice was more gravelly than usual.

Amid a conversation about dealings with China that Trump had undertaken, Bartiromo asked about his voice, wondering if the 79-year-old Republican sounded that way because he’d been “negotiating a lot all day.”
“I’ve been screaming at Iranians all day. Yes,” he replied (via Mediaite), implying that he had “a little bit of a laryngitis.”
He reiterated, saying, “I’ve been screaming at Iranians. You know why? Because that’s the only thing they understand. They don’t understand being nice. They understand the way I have to do business. I treat all people differently.”
The president has taken an overtly threatening and oftentimes profanity laden approach to discussing the war he launched in Iran.
On Easter morning, he referred to the country’s leadership as “crazy b—–ds” and threatened to sent the country to hell, sparking controversy that ultimately led to a very public falling out with a former ally, who deemed the message “vile on every level.”
This is not the first time that the president has candidly admitted to screaming at people, resulting in his voice sounding hoarse.
“I was shouting at people because they were stupid about something having to do with trade, and I straightened it all out,” he told the press in November 2025, per PEOPLE. “But I blew my stack at these people.”
Elsewhere in his interview with Bartiromo, Trump insisted that he had been “misquoted” by the press during a live conversation he’d had with her earlier in the week. However, a taped recording of the prior interview calls his claim into question.
