Vice President Ansah Attends Funeral Mass of Fr. Damaseke
The Vice President of Malawi, Jane Ansah, has today joined hundreds of Roman Catholic faithful at Likuni Parish for the funeral Mass of Father Francis Damaseke.
The Holy Mass is currently underway, with Fr. Damaseke expected to be laid to rest at the parish later today. The gathering has drawn a large crowd of mourners, reflecting the impact he had on the Church and the wider community.
Fr. Damaseke died on Saturday, April 11, 2026. At the time of his death, he was serving at Nathenje Parish in Lilongwe, where he had been posted in 2024.
He was born on September 27, 1986, and was ordained to the priesthood on July 9, 2016. During his ministry, he served in several parishes, including Mlale, Chilinde, and St. Patrick’s, before working with the Malawi Conference of Catholic Bishops from 2021 to 2024.
Also in attendance at the Mass are UTM president Dalitso Kabambe and UTM parliamentarian Matthews Mtumbuka, along with other political leaders.
The service has also attracted several Catholic bishops, among them Vincent Mwakhwa, Peter Chifukwa, Montfort Sitima, Thomas Msusa, Yohane Nyirenda, and Alfred Mateyu Chaima.
The burial will take place at Likuni Parish following the Mass.
