Chances of getting pulled over may go up later this month in Kansas, here's why
JACKSON COUNTY (KSNT) - Kansas law enforcement is gearing up for the annual 'Click It or Ticket' campaign in the weeks leading up to Memorial Day.
The Jackson County Sheriff's Office reported on May 5 that it will be participating in the traffic safety campaign which runs from May 18 to June 1. Additional deputies will hit the road to make sure people are driving safely and will especially be on the lookout for those who aren't wearing a seatbelt.
“Your seat belt could be what saves you and those riding with you," said Jackson County Sheriff Tim Morse. "Insist that everyone in the vehicle is restrained before you start.”
The U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) reports that Click It or Ticket is meant to help encourage drivers and passengers alike to wear seatbelts. National enforcement of the campaign generally lasts from May 19 to June 1.
“I also want people to know that in the interest of saving lives, the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office is committed to ticketing and educating the violators of adult seat belt and child safety laws, as well as other traffic infractions because we want you to be as safe as possible on your travels," Morse said.
