Sounds Great: Inside the All-New 2025 Nissan Murano

From the whomp sound of a door closing to the click-clack of the turn signal, to the tactile movement of the buttons and dials on the dashboard, drivers can tell a lot about a car by the way it sounds and feels. All those ASMR car tours on TikTok and Instagram are popular for good reason.

It appears someone at Nissan headquarters was paying attention to the trend, because the all-new 2025 Nissan Murano sounds and feels great.

We’re not just talking about the available Bose Personal Plus Audio System and its 10 speakers. Although, yes, the deeply satisfying wallop of the bass and clever Active Sound Enhancement effects that make it seem as if you’re inside the music, are amazing, especially on an SUV in the Murano’s price bracket.

When we say the new Murano sounds and feels great, we’re talking about everything a driver touches inside the completely all-new cabin. The supple semi-aniline leather seats, available on the Platinum trim, are just one of many examples.They’re buttery to the touch, and the diamond-shaped quilting is so precise. Press into the cushion of the seats and you’ll feel the targeted support of Nissan’s unique Zero Gravity seats. The front seats are also heated, and available with ventilation and — in a first for Nissan — a massaging function too.

Wrap your hands around the heated steering wheel and you’ll get to sample Nissan’s TailorFit material. It’s a synthetic alternative to leather, designed to precisely mimic the feel of genuine Nappa hide but without the compromises. While leather trim on seats and steering wheels tend to wrinkle or warp over time, TailorFit is wrinkle-resistant, retaining its perfectly tight-fit on the steering wheel for longer.

Look up and passengers in the front or rear seats will notice the optional panoramic moonroof, available on the SL and Platinum trim. It slides to open the cabin up to the world around you and bring in a fresh breeze. Even when closed, it brings additional light into the cabin. So too does the 64-colour ambient lighting system — another option from the SL and Platinum trims — which you can adjust to match your outfit or your mood. It’s a subtle thing, having the ambient light wrapping around the cabin elevates the interior ambiance, especially at night.

Look down in the front seat and you’ll see a convenient wireless charging pad. Note the tactile vibration and subtle chime sound that lets you know your phone will soon be fully charged.

Fire up the 2.0-liter VC-Turbo engine and hit the road, and drivers can shift the new 9-speed automatic using tactile steering-wheel mounted paddle shifters. They have a satisfying action that make the most of the crisp new automatic ‘box. (For keen drivers, it’s a major upgrade from the CVT automatic in the outgoing Murano.) Nissan’s designers specified push-buttons instead of a traditional lever for putting the car into park and drive. Again, it’s a small detail, but one that frees up space for the aforementioned wireless phone charger and cup holders.

Spend more time in the Murano’s cabin and you’ll come to appreciate some of the finer details. There are dual 12.3-inch screens, which house the instrument cluster and wireless Apple CarPlay or Android Auto displays. Swiping around the screen, drivers and passengers will appreciate the soft, unobtrusive beeps of CarPlay and the smooth scrolling. If you’d prefer to talk rather than touch, with Google Built-in, all you have to do is say, “Hey Google, turn up the temperature” and the car will do it.

Beneath the dual screens, a large swath of Nissan’s Murano Glass runs across nearly the whole width of the cabin. Incorporating colour-shifting graphics and textures designed to play with the light, Nissan’s Murano Glass was inspired by the famed Venetian glassworks that gave the SUV its name.

Seen from the outside, the Murano’s lighting design is unmistakable. The ultra-thin “Crystal Cube” LED headlights and LED taillight that stretches across the back of the vehicles leaves a lasting impression.

All these little features and flourishes have been designed with an obsessive attention to detail. As you can hear in our 2025 Nissan Murano ASMR video, such obsessive attention to detail sounds good. Still, you’ve really got to see and feel it up close to fully appreciate the all-new Murano.
