A’s go for series sweep at the Coliseum
Having already won the series, the Oakland Athletics are attempting a three-game sweep of the visiting Pittsburgh Pirates today at the Oakland Coliseum. The National League Central Pirates come into today with a 14-17 record, identical to the A’s. Manager Mark Kotsay will send 34-year-old righty Ross Stripling to the mound for this matchup. Stripling has yet to land in the win column, starting today 0-5 with a 4.98 ERA. He hopes to turn that around facing Quinn Priester for the Bucs. He is 0-1 in his two 2024 starts with a 3.48 ERA. Priester was the eighteenth overall pick in the 2019 Amateur Draft for Pirates.
