Triangle Portaling Gets A Bit Wild
Some really interesting developments
We haven’t done a whole lot yet on ACC portal activity but there are a couple of moves that need to be discussed.
First, NC State got its second transfer from Louisville when Mike James picked the Wolfpack, following Brandon Huntley-Hatfield. He’ll join one of the more intriguing transfers in recent years in Dontrez Styles.
Styles started in Chapel Hill of course and that’s going to make the usually intense State-UNC rivalry games that much more intriguing, particularly because he felt like he never got a chance to show what he could do at UNC.
Also making it more intriguing: it looks like RJ Davis will be back.
Davis has become a great player but the NBA doesn't have much of a demand for 6-0 shooting guards. Much like teammate Armando Bacot, he’s just a poor fit for what the league typically looks for, so another year in Chapel Hill, can't hurt and will probably help.
This also assures UNC of a very deep backcourt. Starters Davis and Elliot Cadeau are back and Seth Trimble has changed his mind about transferring. And freshman Ian Jackson is probably going to get heavy minutes too.
It’ll be interesting to see how Hubert Davis deals with that much backcourt talent.
Finally, Wake Forest picked up a former Five Star recruit when former Iowa State Cyclone Omaha Biliew chose the Demon Deacons.
