Report: Spurs are battling two Premier League sides for Boca Juniors midfielder
According to a report in Boca Noticias, Tottenham Hotspur have expressed an interest in signing Boca Juniors starlet Cristian Medina this summer.
Tottenham have already strengthened their midfield department with the acquisition of Lucas Bergvall, who will link up with Ange Postecoglou’s squad ahead of the start of next season but the Lilywhites have since continued to be linked with various midfielders.
Over recent weeks, the likes of Chelsea’s Conor Gallagher (The Sun), Nottingham Forest’s Morgan Gibbs-White (Daily Mail), Leicester City’s Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall (Football Insider) and Atalanta’s Ederson (Football.London) are among those named as options for Tottenham.
Spurs turn their attention to Boca Juniors
Boca Noticias have now put forward another name, stating that Spurs have a keen eye on Argentine youngster Medina.
The 21-year-old has emerged as one of the most consistent midfielders in the Primera Division over the last couple of years and it is alleged that he could make a big move to Europe this summer.
However, the report reveals that Spurs face competition for Medina, with Brighton and Wolves also said to be admirers of the youngster, who is thought to be valued at around €9m (£7.6m).
Spurs Web Opinion
While Tottenham historically have not tended to sign players straight from the South American leagues, they did secure Alejo Veliz last year, which shows that the club are keeping an eye on the best Argentine talent and their policy on that front has shifted slightly. So one would not rule out Spurs making a bid for Medina this summer.
