Report: Premier League sends apology to Tottenham fans after recent decision
According to BBC Sport, the Premier League have sent an apology to fans after Tottenham’s clash against Nottingham Forerst was moved forward by 24 hours.
Spurs were due to host Forest at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Monday, April 8, but it was announced yesterday that the fixture had been rescheduled.
The game will now take place on Sunday, April 7, with kick-off scheduled for 18:00 GMT. It was explained that the decision was made due to London Underground and train strikes.
The local authorities had reportedly deemed that the required level of safety for the fans was not possible due to the strike, with just one of the six stations that serve the stadium set to run normally on April 8.
Premier League apologises to Tottenham fans
The Premier League have now apologised for the inconvenience caused and explained the decision by saying: “The change has been made due to matters beyond the League’s control, namely the decision to implement rail and tube strikes on Monday, 8 April and the subsequent reduction in available travel services.
“This has resulted in the local authority’s Safety Advisory Group determining that it is not possible to stage the match with the required levels of safety for attending fans.”
This is one of several of Tottenham’s fixtures which has been rescheduled recently, with the club’s clashes against Manchester City and Arsenal being postponed after the two sides made it into the quarterfinal of the Champions League and the former also made it to the final four of the FA Cup.
Spurs Web Opinion
This is far from ideal for Spurs fans and it perhaps even more inconvenient for the travelling Forest supporters but on this occasion, it was not really the Premier League’s fault, with the decision seemingly taken out of their hands due to the strike.
