Brian Kelly possibly revealing Jayden Daniels' next team skyrocketed his draft odds
Whether he just misspoke, was just being supportive in hypothetical terms or gave the biggest accidental hint of the 2024 NFL Draft cycle, LSU coach Brian Kelly has shifted the odds for the second-overall pick.
The Athletic reported that Kelly supported his former LSU quarterback Jayden Daniels by saying that he’s “gonna get the ball out to his playmakers and make plays for Washington.”
Clearly, Kelly even somewhat hinting at the team that might draft Daniels, much less saying a team outright, is going to have an impact on the sportsbooks.
After Kelly’s comments, Daniels’ odds on FanDuel to be taken by the Washington Commanders jumped to -140, ahead of quarterbacks Drake Maye (+155) and J.J. McCarthy (+430).

Now we’re not sure exactly what Kelly meant by that, as it’s very possible he just said something without thinking of what it could mean. However, it’s also technically possible that this is a slip of the tongue for the ages.
We’ll know next month how the first few picks in the draft unfold, but Daniels going to the Commanders will pick up a lot of steam after Kelly’s comments.
