There’s only 11 weeks to go until the Round The Island Race’s 2024. With the sailing season already fully underway, the Island Sailing Club (ISC) is gearing up for the 87th edition of this world famous event. This annual race has been running and growing since 1931, now with over 100 volunteers, and this year is no different.
Early Bird Entry
Are you a seasoned Round The Island Racer eyeing up this years competition, or are you yet to have ventured around the island? Either way, entries for early birds like yourself are now open, and this deal won’t last for long – early bird entry will be closing on Sunday 31st March at 11:59pm. After which, you may still enter the standard route (until 1st June), but why wait?
About the Round The Island Race 2024
Round the Island Race has announced the launch of the Official 2024 race collection by Helly Hansen. Incorporating some of the brand’s most popular technical pieces with the race logo, this year the official merchandise includes a HP ½ Zip Pullover (recycled double knit polyester) and a men’s and women’s Club Hoodie and Tech T-shirt.
This year, the team are introducing a pay-by-link system at home delivery service. Pre-orders are 28/March onwards, with more details on the race website.
Race Safety: RNLI volunteer crews
This year, the RNLI, in their 200th year, has been announced as the Round The Island Race 2024 Official Race Charity. The seven RNLI volunteer crews, from Cowes, Calshot, Bembridge, Yarmouth, Lymington, Mudeford and Portsmouth, have played a part in the race’s safety for decades, and have been training for this year at least fortnightly.
Training consists of replicating real-life incidents and emergencies, where crews can practise with race specific sailing vessels and sailing crews in difficult situations to hone their safety response.
