US official urges Biden for immediate release of citizen detained in Afghanistan
Michael McCaul, the chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the United States House of Representatives, has expressed concern over the situation of an American prisoner in Afghanistan and demanded his immediate release.
On Wednesday, March 27th, Mr. McCaul mentioned an American prisoner named “Ryan Corbett” in a statement and expressed concern about his poor health condition in the Taliban prison.
This American official has criticized the Biden administration for its unwillingness to free Ryan and stated that the President is not willing to meet the family of this prisoner.
The chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the House of Representatives has urged the Biden administration to take immediate action for the release of Ryan Corbett.
It is said that Ryan Corbett had traveled to Afghanistan in August 2022 for a business trip and was detained with his German colleague.
Ryan Corbett, a husband, father, and humanitarian, has been detained by the Taliban in Afghanistan since August 10, 2022. Held in a basement cell without regular access to basic amenities like a bathroom or sunlight, Ryan’s health is deteriorating, according to reports from other Westerners who have been released from the same prison.
Despite initially keeping their struggle private, Ryan’s family has now chosen to speak out, driven by fears for his safety.
The Taliban has not yet made any comments regarding the detention of this American citizen.
