Sports Briefs: San Marin, Marin Catholic boys lacrosse keep MCAL title pace
San Marin remains undefeated and locked in a race for first place in the MCAL as the league boys lacrosse slate nears a finish. Senior Blake Hart netted four goals and had four assists as San Marin rolled to a 18-2 victory over host Branson in Wednesday’s action. Mustangs sophomore Michael Giomi had three goals and three assists, while Braydon Brush and Dylan Falk also scored three goals each. The Mustangs (7-2, 2-0 MCAL) are scheduled to play crosstown rival Novato on Thursday.
• Marin Catholic maintained its pace in the title race with Tuesday’s 22-0 rout of San Rafael. The Wildcats (8-3, 3-0 MCAL) are in a battle for first place with San Marin. The Wildcats and Mustangs are scheduled to face each other in a showdown on April 15. Marin Catholic will take advantage of spring break with a tour of New Jersey against four teams.
• Redwood carried its early momentum to an 18-5 victory over Terra Linda on Tuesday. Cole Greene led the Trojans with two goals and an assist.
Women’s lacrosse
Dominican University wrapped up a Midwest road trip with an 18-6 victory over William Jewell College on Tuesday afternoon. Graduate student Jacelyn Lazore and freshman Nora White led the Penguins offense with four goals each. Freshman Julianne Lane and sophomore Taylor Pieri scored three goals each as Dominican scored a season high.
Prep baseball
Archbishop Mitty scored six runs early, and held off Marin Catholic’s rally efforts as the Wildcats fell 11-8 in Wednesday’s non-league contest. Jayden Lee tripled and drove in two runs for the Wildcats (6-7), while Gaetano Polizzotti was 3-for-4 with a double and two RBIs.
• San Domenico fell behind 16-0 in the second inning against Lick-Wilmerding before the game was called Wednesday.
Boys golf
San Domenico edged Bay School, 236-244, after Ben Nguyen shot a 58 to lead the Panthers at the Presidio Golf Course on Tuesday.
Boys volleyball
Tam secured a crucial 25-21, 25-18, 25-17 victory against Marin Catholic on Wednesday. The win keeps the Red-tailed Hawks (9-13, 4-2) a game and a half in front of both Branson (9-13, 2-3) and MC (2-6, 2-3) for the fourth and final playoff spot.
• Novato (7-7, 1-3) netted its first victory of the league campaign, a 25-27, 25-19, 26-24, 26-24 win against crosstown rival San Marin (2-10, 1-4).
