Phillies Injury Updates: Rhys Hoskins progressing in rehab
The Latest Phillies Injury News
- Rhys Hoskins (torn ACL)
- Status: 60-day injured list — Out for 7-9 months
- The Phillies first baseman underwent successful surgery the morning of Thursday, March 30. The club officially announced that his recovery timeline is seven to nine months. Hoskins tore his ACL while trying to field a ground ball during spring training.
- Hoskins checked in with reporters on June 7. He’s off crutches and is about two weeks away from being cleared to start jogging. It’s a lofty goal, but Hoskins is aiming to return to the lineup as a designated hitter at the beginning October for a potential playoff run. (Last Updated June 8) — Destiny Lugardo
- Alec Bohm (left hamstring strain)
- Status: 10-day injured list — Could return June 10
- The Phillies placed Bohm on the 10-day injured list Thursday, retroactive to May 31. He’s eligible to be activated on June 10 and it sounds like that’s what could happen. The Phillies tested out Bohm at first base on Monday. He probably won’t need a rehab assignment before activation.
- Bohm told a group of reporters that his left hamstring started bothering him during the series against the Giants in the middle of May. He stayed back in Philly during the Washington series. He says he expects to play Saturday against the Dodgers. (Last Updated June 5) — Destiny Lugardo

- Andrew Painter (right UCL sprain)
- Status: 60-day MiLB injured list
- According to Corey Seidman of NBC Sports Philadelphia, Painter had his progress halted by an illness that cost him a week of throwing. Prior to getting sick, Painter had been built up to throwing “120 feet off flat ground and doing short bullpen sessions.” The plan is for the organization’s No. 1 overall prospect to pick back up throwing on Monday. - Nick Nelson (glute)
- Status: On MiLB injured list
- Nick Nelson will throw a live batting practice session on Wednesday, May 31. The Phillies originally thought Nelson was dealing with a hamstring injury, but further testing proved his glute was the issue. Two separate injuries, including a left hamstring strain he suffered in spring training, have limited the right hander to just six minor league appearances. “He’ll build up a little bit quicker than we normally would,” Thomson said. With a lot of uncertainty surrounding the No. 5 spot in the rotation, Nelson could be in the mix once he’s fully healthy and stretched out. (Last Updated May 30) — Destiny Lugardo
- Noah Song (low back strain)
- Status: 15-day injured list
- Song, according to MLB.com‘s Todd Zolecki, threw to hitters, including rehabbing big leaguers Hall, Pache and Marchan. Dave Dombrowski told Zolecki that he expects the Phillies 2022 Rule 5 pick, who has not throw a pitch in a meaningful game since 2019, to pitch competitively at some point this season.
