Birmingham Charter junior JB Dalumpines was named the LA City Section Open Division Player of the Year Thursday afternoon after helping the Patriots win their fourth City baseball title since 2017 on May 27 after beating Carson 3-1.
Senior pitchers Daniel Flores and Kaden Taque were named co-Pitcher of the Year. Birmingham’s Matt Mowry was named the Coach of the Year, who tallied his fifth City title (2014, 2017-19, 2023).

Sylmar junior Matthew Benzor and freshman Alex Martinez were named City Section Division I Player of the Year and Pitcher of the Year, respectively. The Spartans won their first City title since 1980 with a 1-0 win over San Pedro at Dodger Stadium. Sylmar’s Ray Rivera was named Coach of the Year.
