Absolut vodka makes huge change to bottles at supermarket giant – but there’s a catch
ABSOLUT Vodka has made a huge change to its bottles at a major supermarket.
The brand is switching up its packaging and has launched a paper bottle in an effort to be more environmentally-friendly.
Absolut Vodka has launched a paper bottle at selected Tesco stores[/caption]Shoppers will notice the change to bottles of Absolut Original Vodka which are for sale at 22 Tesco supermarkets in Manchester.
The bottles are priced at £16 each for a 500ml bottle, which works out at £3.20 per 100ml.
While a regular 700ml bottle is priced at £20 at Tesco – or £2.86 per 100ml.
This makes the new, paper-based bottles 34p more per 100ml of Vodka.
The Sun has asked Tesco if the new bottles are limited edition or permanent, and we will update this article once we hear back.
The new paper bottles are eight times lighter and easier to carry than the standard glass alternatives, according to Absolut.
Shoppers can recycle the packaging as paper through normal household waste.
Here are the 22 Tesco stores which will be stocking the new Vodka bottles:

Absolut Vodka isn’t the first brand to rethink packaging with the environment in mind.
Mars is ditching plastic packaging and going back to using paper — like it did up until the mid-1970s.
It means bars will feel a little different, but company bosses promise it will not affect the freshness — or customers will get a refund.
Last October, Nestle removed the famous shiny foil wrappers from its Quality Street tubs in a bid to be more eco-friendly.
Instead, the sweets were covered in a vegetable-based wax.
Alongside switching up Quality Streets, the brand revealed that another of its iconic chocolates is set to undergo an eco-redesign – KitKat.
Recyclable wrappers were rolled out last year but its entire range will be altered by 2024.
