Pro-Abortion Democrat Patty Murray Thinks Women Can’t be Pro-Life
Democrat Sen. Patty Murray pretended that pro-life women do not exist in a comment attacking Republican leaders.
In a post on Twitter, the Washington senator lashed out against “MAGA Republicans” for their efforts to protect unborn babies from abortions.
“It’s infuriating that MAGA Republicans think they know better than women about abortion,” Murray wrote. “Here’s an idea for them: leave women’s health care decisions up to women.”
Murray did not mention specific legislation, but Republicans in Congress want to pass bills to permanently ban taxpayer funding for abortions and to prohibit abortions after 15 weeks nation-wide, two measures that polls consistently show have strong public support.
A pro-abortion Democrat, Murray ignored that many of the lawmakers who are working to stop abortions are women, including Republican and Democrat women. Louisiana state Sen. Katrina Jackson, for example, is a pro-life Democrat who has sponsored several laws that protect unborn babies and mothers from abortion in her state.
In Mississippi, state Attorney General Lynn Fitch, a pro-life Republican, led the Dobbs v. Jackson case that prompted the overturning of Roe v. Wade last June. As a result of her efforts, 14 states now protect unborn babies by banning abortions, and more are working to do the same.
In Murray’s home state, leaders of the Yakima County Republican Party in central Washington invited her to come to their next meeting and see for herself how many women are working to end abortion.
“Apparently Patty thinks women can’t be MAGA Republicans? Patty, please join us at our next meeting,” the party responded on Twitter. “We’d love to introduce you to the many women who are making America great again. Women who are passionate about bringing the God given right to life for ALL women. Trapped in utero.”

Abortion is not just a women’s issue, and killing unborn babies is not health care – something tens of thousands of doctors confirm.
There is no huge divide between men and women on the matter either. Overwhelmingly, polls consistently show that both men and women support at least some legal protections for unborn babies.
In some cases, polls find stronger support for pro-life laws among women than men. Polls have found that women are more likely than men to oppose late-term abortions, and a 2018 YouGov poll found that an overwhelming majority (72 percent) of young women ages 18 to 35 support restrictions on abortion. In January, a Marist poll found nearly three in four women (72 percent) support banning abortions after the first trimester, if not sooner.
Men and women both are involved in working to end abortion because killing unborn babies is a human rights abuse that affects everyone. Abortions hurt the whole family by destroying unborn babies’ right to life and often leaving mothers and fathers, grandparents and siblings with life-long emotional scars.
