We transformed our bland MDF kitchen for under £250 using a lick of paint & some bargains from B&Q & people are stunned
WHEN it comes to giving your home a makeover sometimes all you really do need is a lick of paint.
One woman has shared the kitchen transformation project she completed with her partner using just paint and some worktop vinyl’s. Amy Reynolds shared her kitchen makeover in a video online.
She said: “This is how we freshened up our kitchen using only paint and a worktop adhesive cover.”
“This is the kitchen that was in place when we moved in, so this is a temporary fix but so so thrilled with the results!“
“I’ll let you know how it all holds up but BY FAR the most impressed with the Rustoleum Kitchen Tile Paint.”
Amy’s video went viral with over 1.6 million views.
Viewers were desperate to get the detail transformations.
Amy followed up with another video sharing everything she used and how much it all cost.
First Amy used cupboard paint in the colour nomad which costs £65.
She said: “Our kitchen cupboard shells are definitely some kind of laminated MDF, doors are also. I didn’t do inside the cupboards.”
Next she used Rustoleum metallic gold handle spray paint £8.
She said: “The handles are the original handles. I soaked them in white wine vinegar and hot water and scrubbed all of the grease off and then I used the Rustoleum metallic gold spray.”

Her worktop £50 vinyl’s cost (including delivery & applicator kit).
She said: “The worktop, we bought three rolls. We used the DC-Fix countertop vinyl’s and the colour was Romeo matt white marble.”
“We bought them from The Vinyl Warehouse but I know they are also available at places like B&Q, Wilko and Amazon. This was definitely without a doubt the hardest part.”
Amy spent £23 on tile paint.
She said: ”The tile paint was the most pleasant surprise of the entire project, I really thought I wasn’t going to like the painted tiles.”
Amy said: “We used the Rustoleum kitchen tiles paint in Moonstone, it took four coats of paint. We prepped with the Pink Stuff to make sure there was no grease.”
The wall and skirting paint £60 and windows & door frame paint £35.
She said: “In terms of preparation it just was a lot of sanding. There was some kind of sealant or wax on the doors that was what we sanded off but the wood grain effect was still left which means it does still show through the paint.”
In total Amy spent just £240 on her kitchen makeover.
