'Yellowstone' Might Be Ending Soon & A New Series With Matthew McConaughey Will Continue The Franchise Even Further
The end of Yellowstone might be nearer than anyone thought, if recent reports come true.
Deadline is reporting that Taylor Sheridan‘s flagship franchise series could be ending sooner rather than later due to some drama over shooting schedules.
However, the outlet also reports that actor Matthew McConaughey is also in talks to come in and star in a franchise extension series in the Yellowstone world.

According to Deadline, the source of the drama stems from Kevin Costner‘s shooting schedule.
A source shared that Kevin, who plays patriarch John Dutton on the series, “originally limited himself to 65 days of shooting on Yellowstone“, and “only wanted to shoot for 50 days for the first part of the current season.”
However, for the second half of filming, he apparently only “wanted to spend a week shooting.”
“We have no news to report. Kevin Costner is a big part of Yellowstone and we hope that’s the case for a long time to come,” a Paramount Network spokesperson shared about the situation. “Thanks to the brilliant mind of Taylor Sheridan, we are always working on franchise expansions of this incredible world he has built. Matthew McConaughey is a phenomenal talent with whom we’d love to partner.”
Kevin‘s most recent proposal about his shooting schedule and commitment were “declined”, and the network and studio are now making a decision on whether to move on to another iteration of the franchise.
As far as Matthew‘s involvement in this all, he’s in “negotiations” to join the popular franchise, and it’s not been reported if any, or all, of the major Dutton players would join him in the newest series.
Deadline added that it is possible “that Yellowstone will end with the second half of the current season.”
The Yellowstone franchise has spawned a handful of spinoffs including 1883, 1923 (which was just renewed for a second season) and the David Oyelowo-led Bass Reeves mini series.
Kevin is currently directing and starring in his own western movie, Horizon.
