This Morning viewers outraged as Miriam Margoles makes shock comment while handing out advice
THIS Morning viewers were left horrified today as Miriam Margoles used an offensive and outdated term for disabled people.
The 81-year-old was offering advice to viewers when she made the remark – leaving hosts Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield squirming.
Phillip quickly tried to change the subject saying things were getting ‘Dickensian’.
Those watching at home were very unhappy about the comment, with one person writing: “#ThisMorning How was that even funny??? Seriously?? No apology then?”
A second said: “I’m astounded at what I just heard from @MMargolyes on #ThisMorning
“This lady is known for being controversial, but she just told a woman on air to lose weight, don’t go gay & not to mix with other xxxxxxx.”
“It’s not funny, it’s downright rude and offensive,” tweeted a third.
Phillip went on to describe Miriam as ‘their favourite ever guest’.
The actress is well known for her shock comments, and last time she appeared on This Morning she was forced to apologise for swearing live on air.
Miriam is best known for her role as Professor Sprout in the Harry Potter franchise.
Her other screen credits include Baz Luhrmann’s Romeo and Juliet and the 1996 adaptation of James And The Giant Peach.
Her TV work includes Call The Midwife, Miss Fisher’s Murder Mysteries and Trollied.
