“My ears ring off like crazy and I know there’s a guide or some ancestor trying to come through – and tuning in.”
So he should be able to hear what will make a great hit – as he has just released his eighth solo album, 22.
And he also has a part-memoir, part-self help book, What’s Your Vibe? coming out this week.
In the tome he talks about his struggles following a crippling back injury in 2017.

He was in constant pain that, coupled with a lack of sleep, took him to some really dark places.
He told Fearne Cotton’s Happy Place podcast about the experience while promoting the book, explaining to her: “I’ve never felt such pain in my life.
“And that became my life for the next few years.
“I was getting one hour of sleep. I couldn’t get to sleep until about six o’clock in the morning.
“It was happening throughout two years of my life and even with injections it was still happening.
“I hate to say this but I had really dark thoughts where I was, like, you know what, if this is going to be my life from now on, whatever we need to do to stop this…
“I’m thankful I never got to the point of, ‘How would I go about doing that?’”
COLDPLAY £34M JUST THE START
COLDPLAY banked an eye-watering £34.2million extra last year – before they even started their money-spinning Music Of The Spheres tour.
The British group saw their earnings rocket from £9million in 2020 to £43.2million.
The information comes from new financial documents for their firm Flock Of Birds Touring.
The company handles the cash the band makes from concerts, yet the majority of this new sum is believed to originate from merchandise income, royalties and advances for live performances.
Remarkably, that figure is likely to be dwarfed next year.
They are in the midst of a 16-month world stadium tour which is sure to make members Chris Martin, Jonny Buckland, Guy Berryman and Will Champion a fortune.
In October last year they also scored their ninth No1 album with Music Of The Spheres.
It has been 22 years since they released their debut record Parachutes.
To still be going strong is quite the achievement

LEWIS CAPALDI is a chart-topping superstar with an army of fans – but he is hoping they don’t become so keen on him that they start make his life a misery.
The Forget Me singer admitted that while he loves his career, the thought of having hundreds of fans waiting for him outside hotels and concert venues terrifies him.
Lewis said: “When I was in London, 5 Seconds Of Summer were at my hotel and there were thousands of girls outside.
“That doesn’t seem like an existence. It’s stressful. I wouldn’t be able to handle that.”
KIM IS A LAW UNTO HERSELF

It is about a man who was convicted of triple murder but who has been fighting for three decades with his family to prove he was falsely accused.
She has worked with investigators and other experts to try to expose cracks in the case and show how the US “legal system is broken.”
I didn’t expect that career arc from Kim when I first saw her squabbling with her sisters on the telly.

ANDREW LLOYD WEBBER is relaunching his failed musical Cinderella on Broadway and this time calling it Bad Cinderella – which is apt given how terrible audiences said it was.
The show opened on the West End in August 2021 but closed in June the next year following a series of bad reviews and a struggle to sell tickets.
But Andrew has revealed it will open with the new name in New York in February 2023, just as his show The Phantom Of The Opera – which is Broadway’s longest running show – closes after 35 years.
Perhaps the new name will help lower expectations . . .
SEE-PUGH FASHION IS ON-TREND
FOR someone who was covered up from head to toe, Bella Hadid left little to the imagination in this eye-popping outfit on the catwalk.
She strutted her stuff yesterday at Stella McCartney’s Paris Fashion Week show, which was watched by the designer’s dad, Beatle Paul, and his wife Nancy Shevell.
That couple were the most dressed down in the French capital as other stars tried their best to out-do each other in the style stakes.
Actress Florence Pugh took a break from filming the Dune sequel to go to a dinner hosted by designer Valentino in a matching crop top and see-through skirt combo.
Others who have been out and about at events include Say So rapper Doja Cat, sisters Khloe Kardashian and Kylie Jenner and Brit singer Ellie Goulding, who hurried back home for last night’s BMI Awards in London.
Kanye West wore a cap and hoodie to watch Givenchy’s show on Sunday, after taking to the catwalk for high-end label Balenciaga earlier in the day.

Keeping in with the brand, he wore a Balenciaga-branded gum shield while out and about later.
He has made his fair share of enemies over the years, so I can only assume he stuck that in to stop himself getting hurt if anyone decided to give him a punch on the kisser . . .
