I’m an organised mum – 5 tips to get everything ready for the school week in just one hour to save you time
WAKING up franticly at 6am every weekday to get your children ready for school isn’t exactly the dream life.
We all know school mornings can be carnage, but one mum reveals how you can get ready for the school week on Sunday evening.
Emma Roberts shared how to get ready for the school week in an hour[/caption]Emma Roberts, 35, from Birmingham, UK, is always trying to find new ways to make the morning school rush easier and often shares her organisation tips on her TikTok account, Organised By Em.
The organised mum-of-two reveals to Fabulous what you can do to make the school week easier by prepping most of it in just an hour on a Sunday evening.
School uniform
Fortunately for Emma, her children’s school doesn’t require branded uniforms so she can buy multiples from the supermarket so that she can sort a week’s worth of uniforms in one go.
She adds: “What I tend to do is get all of the uniforms washed and ready over the weekend ironed.”
Emma uses a wardrobe organiser she got from Ikea and has labelled it for each day of the week.
“All of his uniforms are in there with his pants and his socks so that every morning he can go and get himself ready and there’s no me having to run around and get stuff sorted for him,” she adds.

Sorting laundry
It can feel like you have never-ending piles of laundry when you’re having to wash school uniforms regularly.
But the organised mum recommends you can ease the load by making sure it stays organised.
Emma recommends getting an Ikea Kallax unit and using the storage boxes to separate your laundry into colours.
That way, the school uniform is together and easy to find to pop in the washing machine Sunday morning.
Emma adds she always irons the school uniform on a Sunday evening before placing them in the wardrobe organiser.

School bags
Children always seem to keep letters and notes from their teachers hidden so you should be checking them weekly to ensure you don’t miss any important information.
But Emma recommends spending a few minutes on Sunday evening making sure the bag has everything they’ll need for the week.
Plus, it’s a great time to clear out any sweet wrappers from the bottom of the bag.
“I’ll make sure their bags are packed and popped by the front door with their school shoes,” Emma explains.
Lunch prep
The organisation whizz admits her children are fussy eaters so she has to take a packed lunch with them to school.
She says: “When I do my food shopping I plan for the week ahead so that I’ve got everything I need so that there’s no need to do last-minute runs to the shop on a Wednesday morning.”
Emma likes to keep things fresh so often packs their lunch the night before she takes them to school.
Sunday reset
Finally, the organised mum recommends starting the school week on good footing by making sure your children wind down early Sunday evening.

She explains: “What I tend to do is that maybe we’ll watch a film then get them bathed, in their pj’s let them have some real chilled out relaxed time.
“Let them reset a little bit and prepare for Monday morning because sometimes it can be a bit of a shock to the system.”
