Susan Polgar: DON’T CHEAT! It is simply NOT worth it!
The controversy over the Carlsen – Niemann case put the chess community on fire and it seems that the chess world got polarized into two groups, one supporting Magnus Carlsen, and one supporting Hans Niemann. Many world top grandmasters spoke about the case and shared their insights (scroll down for full timeline), and the International Chess FIDE reacted on the incident with the official statement.
In connection with the recent happenings, Susan Polgar commented before that the professional reputation of many parties is at stake. She also described Carlsen’s resignation against Hans Niemann as a protest move, adding that the performances of other young talents are sadly overshadowed by the ongoing Carlsen – Niemann stories.
Susan Polgar today gave advice to all chess players, and especially young ones, not to cheat because it is simply not worth it: “My unsolicited advice for all chess players, especially young ones, DON’T CHEAT! It is simply NOT worth it! Your reputation and life can be ruined forever. And once you are caught cheating, you cannot expect everyone to forgive or forget. It may be a lifetime consequence!“, posted Polgar on her official twitter account. She clarified that the post is not named at anyone and that this has to be said because thousands have been caught cheating in chess, regardless of their age: “Everyone just chill, please. This post is not aimed at anyone. Thousands of people have been caught cheating, and a number of them quit chess out of embarrassment, including some very talented young players.
