A HORRIFYING video shows why it’s extremely important to remain patient behind the wheel when it comes to railway crossings.
Uploaded to YouTube as part of a compilation on the Top Speed channel, the video reveals the shocking force of the impact.
This van driver paid the price for failing to see or hear the crossing signals[/caption]It’s all caught on what appears to be a Polish dash cam from a car waiting at the railway crossing, heading the opposite way.
A smaller van can be seen ahead making the crossing and turning left at a junction in front.

The people in the camera car can be heard talking and in the background you can hear the alarm signalling a train is about to pass.
This crossing doesn’t have barriers and a larger van is seen turning right towards the crossing and camera car.

You assume it’ll stop and wait but clearly the driver is either in a rush or hasn’t seen or heard the signals.
The train sounds its horn and the camera car moves back anticipating the impact.
The train then smashes into the van, which instantly folds around its front and is carried at high speed out of shot.
The force of the shunt is huge and the van is visibly broken down its middle as a result.

User whoawhatwhy took to the comments to say: “It honestly baffles me how people see a TRAIN coming and they think ‘yeah I think my car is faster'”
And responding sarcastically to the lack of barrier at the railway crossing, sam8404 said: “If only there were some kind of machine that could block the road when a train is coming to prevent this exact thing from happening.”
