Sports briefs: Pacifics allow one hit in rout of Martinez
Eric Parnow and two relievers combined to throw a one-hitter as the San Rafael Pacifics rolled to their ninth consecutive win — a 12-1 victory against Martinez on Saturday night.
Martinez took a 1-0 lead in the top of the second inning without the benefit of a base hit, manufacturing a run on two Pacifics errors and a stolen base.
San Rafael (33-9 Pecos) tied the game in the third, took the lead in the fourth and scored in every subsequent frame, highlighted by a five-run eighth.
Parnow went six innings, struck out eight and didn’t allow a hit. Chris Johnson pitched scoreless innings of relief in the seventh and eighth innings. Martinez broke up the no-hitter when Nicolas Diaz doubled to lead off the ninth inning.
Jalil Marinez had two hits and drove in two runs to lead the way offensively for San Rafael. Tyler Georgeson also had two RBIs. Evan Bacani and Jonathan Waite both had two hits.
