Holiday warning for Brits as flight costs DOUBLE due to sneaky charges – and how to pack light to avoid them
BRIT holidaymakers have been warned of flight costs DOUBLING thanks to sneaky hidden charges.
Sky-high luggage prices could send the cost of bargain flights rocketing twice as much if punters put bags in the hold.
The charge is usually displayed as an “opt in” extra when you book your flights on budget airlines.
The Sunday Mirror reported how a £50.15 return flight from Luton to Croatia in October, with EasyJet, soared by an eye-watering £59.48 to £109.63.
And it was just because hold baggage was booked.
While consumer group Which? found a £30 return from London to Majorca with Ryanair lurched to £79.

Passengers can also be hammered with a £70 extra charge each way if their cabin bag exceeds the airline’s size limit.
But Which? says this is so “minuscule”, you can only throw in a single change of clothes.
Ryanair allows cabin luggage measuring 40 x 20 x 25cm, which is only the size of a laptop bag.

While EasyJet lets passengers bring bags measuring 45 x 36 x 20cm.
But anything bigger incurs a charge of £5.99 upwards.
Which? said: “For many, luggage is essential, and it’s time the likes of Ryanair treated it as such.”

Ryanair told The Sunday Mirror its baggage policy is “transparent”.
EasyJet said the fact hold bags can cost more than the actual flights shows how cheap the flights are.
