ITV star says emotional goodbye as they leave network after 19 years
AN ITV star has bid an emotional farewell to the network after appearing in shows for 19 years.
Duncan Wood has presented ITV News Calendar for almost two decades but has a TV career spanning more than 30 years.
He confirmed the news of his exit in a tweet after being away from work recently due to health issues.
Following his final appearance on Calendar – via recorded message – Duncan posted: “It’s a wrap! Tough decision but one I’ve thought long and hard about.
“Thankyou #ITV for 32 rollercoaster years of live telly and to the amazing team @itvcalendar I shall miss you greatly!”
In a statement to ITV Duncan added: “It’s been an incredible honour and privilege to be allowed into the front rooms of millions of homes across the region for almost two decades, building up a relationship with ITV Calendar’s wonderful viewers, and telling their amazing stories.

“I’ve been fortunate to make many lifelong friends through the programme and to have worked with some exceptionally talented people both on and off screen.
“But after a lot of thought I’ve decided the time is right for me to start the next chapter of my life and see what’s round the next corner!”
Head of news at ITV News Calendar Mark Hayman said: “Duncan has made a huge contribution to television in the region covering the biggest stories of the last two decades.
“In addition to telling the day’s news his sense of fun and on-screen relationship with weather presenter Jon Mitchell have established him as a favourite with viewers.

Duncan, who also worked as a stand-in presenter on GMTV, joined ITV News Calendar in 2003.
