PDC World Darts Championship – Quarter-final tips and free bets with Gerwyn Price in action
HERE we go… the quarter finals are here and we start with the second game on the slate.
That is simply because I cannot find a bet for James Wade v Mervyn King.

Luke Humphries v Gary Anderson – 14:30
IN this one, its youth v experience and I’m loving the idea that Humphries will get the biggest win of his career and boost himself into the Premier League conversation.
Nathan Aspinall did the same thing on this stage when he reached the Semi-Finals and pushed himself into the elite.
Humphries should be able to play with freedom, he’s got tonnes of experience up on the stage and his comeback against Chris Dobey was nothing short of brilliant.
His power scoring at peak is even better than the likes of Anderson and if he keeps straight on his doubles, he’ll be tough to live with.
This is another game where the price gets boosted more than you think when you tack on a likely prediction. Humphries is 4/6 to get the most 180s, add that to him winning the match and you have a bet that appeals.
1pt – Humphries to win and most 180s @ 13/5
Peter Wright v Callan Rydz – 19:40
A LOT of money has gone on Callan Rydz to win the tournament and it’s completely understandable why.
Indeed, this same column tipped Rydz E/W to win the Matchplay in the summer at 125/1. Six months too soon sadly…
But he should be tested here in a way he hasn’t yet. Wright has looked ominously strong and is still yet to hit his real A-game.
He got through a little bit of trouble against Heta before blowing away Searle. But yes Rydz is the form player, the trouble is that he’ll have to maintain his form over 8-10 sets, which he has never done before.
The 180 line for Rydz seems high at 8.5. He did hit seven against Nathan Aspinall but that seems the outlier, as there were two against Soutar and four against Dolan.
And again, this is when Rydz is playing in the form of his life. If it goes 11 sets then yes he can clear the line but you’re dealing with unknowns there, so take the under. And follow that up with Wright to win the 180s battle on a handicap of -1.5.
1pt – Rydz under 8.5 180s @ 4/6
1pt – Wright Most 180s -1.5 Handicap @ Evs
Gerwyn Price v Michael Smith – 21:30
The consensus seems to be that the winner of the World Championship will be the one that wins this game.
While this isn’t the actual final, it will hopefully be another Ally Pally classic, and it won’t be a surprise to see who the crowd will be supporting… Fortunately for Price backers, you know he will not be bothered by that.
For me, Price is entering that rarefied air of Peak Taylor and Van Gerwen where you expect him to win close matches, you expect him to capitalise on an opponents missed double with a three-dart checkout.
Opponents probably expect him to do it too, and he hasn’t lost on this stage in 732 days, when Peter Wright beat him in the 2020 Semi-Finals.
I see a close game where Price finds that extra consistent gear on doubles to pull away slightly in the middle stanza, and holds that lead till the end. As such, I’m going for my first correct score pick of the year.
Finally, I’m going for the over on the highest checkout score of 141.5.
These two will get plenty of chances and Smith’s bull hitting is one of the most accurate on tour, while Price showed what he can do when hit that 164 against Dirk van Duijvenbode.
Book out the sofa and grab the popcorn, this should be a good one…
1pt – Price to win 5-3 @ 9/2
1pt – Highest Checkout over 141.5 @ 5/6
