Watch moment Rice realises Chelsea pal Mount will never let him forget world-class volley he scored against West Ham
DECLAN RICE looked devastated after his best mate Mason Mount scored a sumptuous volley during Chelsea’s 3-2 defeat at West Ham.
England star Rice was sloppy in possession in the build up to his pal’s brilliant finish and it appeared to dawn on him straight after that Mount would never let him forget it.
Thiago Silva put the Blues 1-0 up with a header before Manuel Lanzini’s penalty made it 1-1.
But with mere minutes left on the clock in the first-half, Mount’s effort saw the West Londoners regain the lead.
Tomas Soucek and Rice dithered on the ball in midfield which saw their London rivals regain possession.
Hakim Ziyech picked up the ball towards the left touchline and pinged an inch-perfect diagonal to Mount at the back post.
Hammers left-back Ben Johnson was sprinting back from an attacking position but he wasn’t quick enough as Mount hit it first time with the inside of his right foot from just inside the area.
It fizzed straight past Fabianski and into the bottom right corner to send Blues fans in the away end wild.

Mount wheeled away and goaded the home fans by poking his tongue out at them and cupping his ear to the raucous London Stadium faithful.
And cameras panned straight to Rice who was seen shaking his head looking crestfallen.
But it was Rice and the Hammers supporters who had the last laugh as second-half goals from Jarrod Bowen and Arthur Masuaku saw the home side walk away with all three points.
Rice and Mount became close mates during their time together in Chelsea’s academy.
The Blues rejected Rice when he was 14 and their East London rivals snapped him up.
He has gone on to become a superstar at West Ham – captaining the side in Mark Noble’s absence and cementing his place as England’s No 1 choice in centre-midfield.

But despite being separated from Mount in their early teen years the pair have remained best pals.
A video of Rice went viral in 2019 when Mount scared the life out of him while the West Ham man slept on holiday.
And in an exclusive interview with SunSport, the mates revealed their girlfriends think they love each other more than them.
