Burglar ‘steals eight beef Pot Noodles but leaves chicken ones behind’
A mum claims a burglar broke into her house to steal Pot Noodles – but not the chicken and mushroom-flavoured ones.
Christine Gibson’s security cameras alerted her to a man in her garden, who then jumped onto the roof of the block of flats next to her home in St Helens, Merseyside, in the early hours of the morning last Wednesday.
She called the police who took the report seriously, even deciding to send a helicopter to the scene.
But Christine, who has fibromyalgia and mobility issues and lives with her 27-year-old daughter, told the Liverpool Echo: ‘He didn’t take anything except for eight Pot Noodles – beef and tomato flavoured king-sized ones.
‘I didn’t even realise they were missing until my daughter went and checked, and I knew they were missing as I normally buy 12 at time.
‘I had my mobility scooter I think he tried to get that out and spotted the noodles, he didn’t take the chicken and mushrooms ones but you can sell Pot Noodles for 50p so I think he took them to sell.’
Although the thief did not take anything valuable, he left Christine and her daughter ‘shaken up’.
Christine said: ‘I’m frightened of him coming back.
‘I’m constantly looking at the camera to see, and my daughter has started having nightmares since.’
A 33-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of burglary later that same night.
Merseyside Police are appealing for anyone with information to come forward.
