CN Traveler’s 10 best big cities in the world include a major surprise
Conde Nast Traveler recently released its 2021 Readers Choice Awards, bestowing kudos on cities, countries, islands, resorts and hotels (Carmel Valley’s Bernardus Lodge! Menlo Park’s Rosewood Sand Hill!) The awards are based on an annual reader survey, with more than 800,000 readers weighing in.
Last week, we dished on the top 10 big cities in the U.S. Now, we’re going global. CN Traveler’s list of top destinations around the world is divided into the 10 most remarkable big cities and the best of the small, such as San Miguel de Allende in Mexico, for example, and Galway, Ireland.
Interestingly, the 10 big city picks skew heavily toward Asia, with three cities in Japan alone and three more in neighboring nations.
Elsewhere in the world, CN Traveler gave a nod to picturesque Merida in Mexico, with its mix of Mayan history and Spanish colonial architecture, and Portugal’s Porto, where port wine isn’t the only draw. The seaside city boasts stunning classic and modern architecture, public art and restaurants.
It’s a list that conjures armchair travel dreams. Here are the top 10. Explore the rest of the Readers Choice Awards at www.cntraveler.com.
