Sidewalk office hours
Santa Clara County Supervisor Joe Simitian will hold Sidewalk Office Hours on Saturday, Oct. 2, at the Saratoga Farmers’ Market at West Valley Community College, located in parking lot 3 at Fruitvale Avenue and Career Way.
From 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m., community members can stop by to share their thoughts and concerns about local issues, ask questions, learn about county services and more. All questions are welcome, and no appointment is required.
Students merit recognition
Dozens of Saratoga High School seniors are among approximately 16,000 semifinalists in the 67th annual National Merit Scholarship program, along with three students from Prospect High School and homeschooled Saratoga resident Cara C. Burgess, all of whom are now in the running for some 7,500 scholarships, each worth $2,500, that will be offered next spring.
High school juniors entered the program by taking the 2020 preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test. The nationwide pool of semifinalists, representing less than 1% of U.S. high school seniors, includes the highest-scoring entrants in each state.
