How to cut the price of petrol and diesel
HERE's how to save yourself money and fuel
- Make your car more fuel-efficient. Keep your tyres inflated, remove the roof rack and turn your air-con. This will reduce your engine power and the amount of fuel you’re using.
2. Drive slow and steady. The brake is a money burner, so avoid slamming it on. Accelerating slowly will also save you fuel and money.
3. Be a bargain hunter. Find the cheapest petrol or diesel in your area. PetrolPrices.com and Confused.com are free to use – just enter your postcode and how far you want to travel.
Esso retail sales manager Pat Rutherford said: “After the year we’ve all had, it’s clear that the nation is keen to maximise their savings, which is why we are excited to extend our partnership with Nectar.
“This unique long-term offer allows us to show Brits that using Esso Nectar can have a real cumulative effect on your savings.”

Drivers can collect Nectar points every time they fill up by linking your Nectar card to your Esso account and pay via the app.
They’ll also collect 500 bonus Nectar points on their first fill.
Few other retailers are currently running a per litre saving offer.
Fuel provider BP does have a similar points system – shoppers collect points every time they buy fuel or purchase items in-store. Just scan your rewards card or shop via the BPme app.
These can be redeemed later for a discount in-store and on fuel.
Points can also be traded in for vouchers for their partner stores, including Amazon.co.uk, Marks & Spencer and Love2Shop.
But if you’re looking to save money every time you fill up, choose an Esso pump.
