A ‘jealous’ man allegedly pushed his girlfriend out of a second-floor window onto the top of a parked car and she miraculously survived.
Safiye Nur Gurbuz, 24, lived to accuse her boyfriend of 10 months of forcing her into his car while she was on her way to work, then driving her to a second-floor apartment in the southern Turkish province of Antalya.
The nurse claims Aytac Suleyman Dasbudak, 32, beat her in the apartment last Saturday and pushed her out of the window when she ran towards it screaming for help.
Ms Gurbuz said: ‘He didn’t know there was a car downstairs when he pushed me out the window. If I had fallen on the concrete, not on a car, I would be dead now.’
After she had landed Dasbudak reportedly rushed down to try and pull her back into his apartment, local media outlet HaberTurk reported. But too many witnesses had already gathered at the scene.
Dasbudak, a car showroom owner, is said to have hit his head on the pavement several times to make it look as if he also fell with Ms Gurbuz.
But police were suspicious when they noticed only one body had fallen onto the car, and they arrested Dasbudak.
Ms Gurbuz was rushed to hospital where doctors saved her life but she is still recovering from a broken back, hand and leg.
‘I’m sure he would kill me if he got out of prison,’ she said.
The couple took a turn for the worst during the last three months of their relationship, when Dasbudak apparently became abusive and jealous.
Ms Gurbuz said: ‘He [Dasbudak] has inflicted violence on me many times before. Each time I made a report of an assault and complained about him but it didn’t help.
‘He was relentless, he was calling my family and friends and threatening dire consequences unless I returned to him. But this is not love, this is an obsession, a disease.
‘Women should not be afraid to say that they are exposed to violence. I am not afraid because I do not want to die.’
Turkish police and authorities are still investigating.
