Bargain-hungry shopper shows off mega Sainsbury’s haul of 50p deals – but gets slammed for taking ‘too much’
EVEN though we can tell you the exact time all our local supermarkets crack out their yellow stickers, we can’t deny that there’s always an element of luck involved in bargain-hunting.
So when this savvy shopper saw the price of shampoo, deodorant and baby food being slashed in Sainsbury’s, they rushed to stock up.
The shopper claims this haul would have originally cost £450 but only set him back £50[/caption]Sharing a photo of their epic haul on the Facebook group Extreme Couponing and Bargains UK, the chuffed shopper wrote: “Everything 50p or less from Sainsbury’s.
“Baby food all 20p, deodorants and roll-ons 20p each. Baby teething bibs, spoons, porridge, botanticals conditioner and Maui hair detangler 50p each.”
What’s more, the extreme bargain hunter also snapped up seven packs of Waggs dog treats – worth £1 each – in ASDA which had been reduced to 25p a bag.
After totting up the original price of all the products, the man added: “RRP just under £450, paid just over £50. Happy hunting!”
The cheapest bargains started from 20p[/caption] The post sparked fierce debate on the group[/caption] Critics argued that it was ‘excessive’[/caption]But while members of the group were quick to praise the shopper for his hauls, others argued that he’d taken “too much”.
One replied: “Am I the only one that doesn’t take the p*** when I find these bargains? [I’d] normally only buy a few extra than normally would and leave for people to get as they may be struggling.”
“Deodorant is a bit excessive,” another added. “How much are you sweating!?”
Meanwhile, a third wrote: “I understand people like a bargain – but who’s going to use it all? That will take up so much space.”
Jumping to the man’s defence, a fourth said: “You don’t know other people’s circumstances!”
