Rays Activate Ji-Man Choi From Injured List
The Tampa Bay Rays started the season with a World Series hangover, dropping eight of their first 13 games. Since then, they’ve corrected their path, going 17-11 over their last 28, but still sit fourth in the competitive AL East. The Rays are hoping their roster will be further stabilized by the return of Ji-Man Choi, who was activated off the injured list on Saturday. In a corresponding move, the Rays traded Hunter Strickland to the Los Angeles Angels.
Ji-Man was a big part of the Rays run to the World Series, batting .294 with an on-base plus slugging percentage of .929 while making sensational defensive plays at first. Ji-Man will handle the bulk of the work at first while working as a designated hitter to afford Yandy Diaz a few opportunities at first.
The Rays will be looking to complete a three-game sweep of the New York Mets on Sunday. The Mets send right-hander Marcus Stroman to the mound, which is a favorable matchup for the left-handed batting Choi. We are waiting on a line on the game from FanDuel Sportsbook.
